Lost Word Doc on Mac Air -- "don't have permissions" and now it's gone

I was writing in Word yesterday and today when I saved it, I know the specific name I used and exactly where I put it. But when I re-opened it not even a minute later, I got the error message that "you do not have permissions to view this document" and then I couldn't find it in Finder again. I tried to open it in the "recent opens" and that worked -- except for the same error about not having permissions to view it.

Now it's gone. Time Capsule isn't helpful because I just saved it when it did this to me. I have a Mac Air and using Microsoft Word for Mac Version 15.21.1 if that helps. I've looked in my library application support and couldn't find anywhere that auto-save docs might have been.

I knew I should've just been using Pages instead 😠

MacBook Air, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)
